Bananakeet Restaurant , Tortola BVI
Bananakeet just above Carrot Bay, Tortola has always been a favorite with tourists and locals alike here in the British Virgin Islands. It’s world class sunset view can be mesmerizing, even if you’ve seen it a thousand times it just doesn’t get old. Fortunately for us all they have finished their rebuild and are better than ever. We understand the hotel will reopen soon as well but for now the restaurant, pool and smooth new bar will keep you happy enough!
We just had a wonderful dinner in the completely rebuilt restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. Ninja who has managed Bananakeet for years is still on the floor and making sure everything runs smoothly. The dinner menu although slightly pricey if looked at from a stateside perspective, is well rounded and offers nice choices for most everyone. Many of the old favorites are still there such as Tuna Wontons, Mussels and classic Alfredo’s. The house salad last evening was especially nice with fresh greens, candied pecans, crisp apples and a strawberry vinaigrette for $12 which was enough to share between two.
The cocktail menu covers everything you would expect from a tropical restaurant plus a nice selection of wines by the glass and bottle. Don’t overlook the dessert selection they’ve tucked into the back of the cocktail menu, the Chocolate Mousse was so chocolaty and delicious I’d recommend stopping in for it alone.
Everything about Bananakeet says “relax and enjoy” and that’s exactly what we did.
